Our Stories
Covenant Life Church and Covenant Life School have experienced God’s faithfulness throughout decades of ministry1. While our community, nation and world have dramatically changed, Covenant Life Church and Covenant Life School have stood firm, rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ as our cornerstone, our foundation. We remain grounded but not stagnant as we move forward in our mission to be a beacon of truth and hope to an increasingly lost and confused world.
Covenant Life Church began on April 4, 1977 when a small group of people gathered together in the basement of a suburban Maryland home. As it grew in size, it met in different schools and facilities around Montgomery County. With no building of its own, the church rented before breaking ground on a former farm on Muncaster Mill Road in September of 1993.
Today, Covenant Life Church’s mission is to worship God, love one another, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. Our church is a thriving community of genuine, God-fearing members who are connected through over twenty-five small groups and who serve in and support over twenty-five church, local and international ministries.
Covenant Life School was founded in October of 1979, serving roughly 40 children of church members. After 14 years of operating as an elementary school in rented facilities, Covenant Life Church’s new building made room for the school with the addition of middle school grades and an athletics program. Two years later the high school opened, and in June of 1998 the first graduating class of 13 seniors received their diplomas. In 2010 the school became an integrated auxiliary of the church and opened enrollment to families from all local Bible-believing churches.
Covenant Life has blossomed into a flourishing Christian college-preparatory school where students pursue advanced studies in diverse disciplines. The mission of the school is to “educate students who will think biblically and live passionately for Christ”. Through our recognized rigorous academic program, graduates are well prepared for admission into some of the best colleges and universities in the country, with many receiving impressive scholarships. Today, the student body is approximately 500 students, preschool through 12th grade.
“We’ve got the next generation in view when it comes to this campaign. And the reason we do is the Bible tells us to! It tells us that we need to pass on what God has given to us to the next generation. That’s not optional. It’s biblical.

“I’ve always admired people that live a Christian lifestyle because it takes such self-control–which I’ve always prayed for. And my friends at Covenant Life School really helped me with that self-control and that walk with God.
