FAQs

Can I write a check to make my donation? Yes. Checks are welcome as there is no fee charged. It is important, however, that checks be made out to either Covenant Life Church or Covenant Life School. In addition, you must include “The Covenant Campaign” as well as any preferred designated fund(s) on the memo line of your check.

Can I make a donation from my employer that will be matched? Yes. If your company offers employee matching programs, then when you as an employee make a donation, you’ll also request a matching gift from your employer. The employer then makes their own donation to the nonprofit. Please note, the church may not receive donations from an employer, so if you wish to have your donation matched, please designate Covenant Life School (EIN 27-3802031) as your preferred non-profit.

When will the renovations and updates begin? Some renovations have already begun based on earlier giving by church members. However, projects directly flowing out of the Covenant Campaign will begin in the first year of the campaign. Some simpler projects may be completed as early as the fall. Others will require more time for financing, permitting, and construction planning.

Why do these repairs cost so much? The Covenant Life community is blessed with 44 acres of land and 144,000 square feet of building space. The scale of such a property is beyond most people’s daily experience, so the costs can seem very high.

Do my tithes and offerings cover capital expenditures? Whenever possible, Covenant Life Church sets aside some of the church’s normal tithes and offerings for capital expenditures. In the last three years, the elders have designated almost $1 million for capital improvements, all of which has already been invested back into the building. In the long run, we believe the best approach is to plan for capital improvements within the operating budget of the church. However, the amount of projects in our aging building requires that we consider a “boost” through the Covenant Campaign.

How will the Missions & Outreach fund be distributed between the church and school? Funding for missions and outreach expenditures will first prioritize the existing missionaries and outreach ministries supported by and dependent on Covenant Life Church, with remaining funds then distributed to mission and outreach events. Covenant Life Church and School share the goal of reaching and discipling the lost for Christ. We desire to envision, equip, catalyze and mobilize God’s people to reach our community and world with the good news of Jesus Christ. The church and school do this locally through community partnerships and globally as we send and support missionaries and missions trips around the world.

Why can’t we borrow the full amount? Banks would require collateral and a repayment source for any loan. The church building would provide banks with sufficient collateral, but demonstrating an adequate repayment source may be difficult. Aside from the funds designated by the elders for capital improvements, virtually all of the contributions collected by the church currently go toward ministry or the maintenance of the church building, which is used for ministry. Budgeting funds to repay a loan and the related interest would reduce the funds available for ministry.

How will the campaign work? Each member of the church and school will be encouraged to establish a financial goal for giving over the next three years. This giving should be above and beyond normal giving to your local church.

Will my donation to the Covenant Campaign be tax deductible? Yes, the Covenant Campaign is a joint initiative of two non-profit organizations and therefore all donations to this campaign are tax exempt.

How do I determine my pledge? Your giving pledge should be based upon three important components: First, your earnest desire to give; second, your wise assessment of your ability to give; and third, your having sought the Lord for a goal amount to which you are responding in genuine faith.

How will I communicate the amount of my pledge for the three-year period? We would ask you to fill out a pledge form either online or one you received in paper form and submit it to the Covenant Campaign.

Will I be asked to share the amount of my commitment publicly? No! Your individual commitment will remain private and will not be revealed.

How often may I give? The frequency of your gift is up to you. You may give in one lump sum, or incrementally over the three-year period. For church members, you are encouraged to give weekly or monthly to facilitate planning.

When may we start giving? You may begin making contributions now!

Will I have the opportunity to revise my goal? Yes, you may revise your pledge at any time.

How will we make our contributions? We ask that contributions be made via check or online at www.covenantcampaign.org

Can I give assets other than cash? Yes. There are tax advantages in giving assets of this type. If desired, a qualified consultant will be happy to meet personally with you and share the benefits of this type of giving.
